Synopsis
You would agree the number of times we wished our students could master the use of proper spoken and written English. It is apparent that many of them have already adopted Singlish as a daily spoken language, like their mother-tongue.
International Speaker & Educator, Christian Chua, has thus, created this book to assist students in breaking the habit of using Singlish and to adopt English as it is taught at school.
Through the introduction of fun-filled exercises for students to drill on in our book, many students have successfully become more aware of correct sentence structures for good written and spoken English.
Many respond habitually in Singlish growing up in a poor English-speaking environment. Many children speak Singlish when their parents and friends speak Singlish to them.
Soon, this becomes a behavioural pattern, and it becomes encrypted in the neuro-connections in our brains.
This undesirable, habitual speaking pattern becomes ‘fixed’. Grades at school start to deteriorate with mounting pressures to pass well at oral and written exams as the child finds difficulty to express him or herself.
